Steel price report as of May 4, 2011

Scrap

-          Metal Bulletin Ferrous scrap index shredded in India was reported at $474.44 per tonne CFR, HMS 1&2 (80:20 mix) FOB Rotterdam registered 420.39 FOB

Semis

-          Metal Bulletin CIS export slab was $650-660 per tonne FOB Black Sea for 2 May record.

Bar

-          Rebar offer prices from Turkey to Singapore up to $730-740 per tonne CFR, from $690 per tonne CFR last week – source: SBB

-          Korean rebar was offered at  $770 per tonne CFR to Singapore – source: SBB

-          China's Shagang raised rebar price by $23 per tonne, making 16-25mm HRB335 rebar was priced at $762 per tonne, with 17% VAT – source: SBB

-          CIS rebar price up to $680-690 FOB Black Sea – source: MB

Hot rolled coil prices

-          The Steel Index reference price for HRC is $832 per short ton, FOB, down by $17 – source: SBB

-          Indian steel mills planned to increase HRC price for May by around INR1,000-1,500 per tonne – source: Yieh

-          Taiwanese HRC price dropped by NT$ 1,000 per tonne to NT$22,500 per tonne – source: Yieh
